The Golf season begins!

The PGA Tour season is now in full flow and the big events are coming in thick and fast.

Last week’s WGC Mexico Championship marked the start of the big events. The top 72 golfers in the world teed it up in Mexico for the first WGC event of 2020. Under a dark cloud of cheating allegations from fellow pros and broadcasters, Patrick Reed beat off the competition to claim his eighth PGA Tour title. It is a testament to his professionalism and drive to put aside the negative press and focus on proving that he is a great golfer and capable of beating the best in the world. Keep an eye out for Reed for the remainder of the season, he is likely to want to keep proving the doubters and naysayers wrong.

Moving onto this week's Honda Classic at PGA National, players are stepping up their preparations for firstly The Players Championship, which is three weeks away and then the first major of the year The Masters in early April.

But even with players stepping up their preparations for these upcoming ,massive events, the Honda Classic cannot be underestimated. As always with Jack Nicklaus designed courses this is a serious challenge that will test players to their limits.

Initially designed by the Fazio brothers Tom and George, the course underwent a redesign in 2014 by Jack Nicklaus. As with all Jack Nicklaus designed courses, course management and ball striking gets rewarded and that is exactly what we will see from the winner this week.

Tommy Fleetwood:Has an active streak of 32 cuts made on the PGA Tour and is due to step into the winner’s circle soon. It is a ball strikers golf course and Tommy is one of the best in this category.

Justin Rose:He hasn’t been at his very best this year but after a couple of weeks off since his last tournament he will be fresh and ready to make a mark on this season.

Viktor Hovland:Fresh off his first PGA Tour win at the Puerto Rico Open, he is sure to add to his tally and with his confidence levels through the roof and his ball striking ability he is a firm favourite to add to his tally this week.

Louis Oosthuizen:On a ball strikers golf course, you cannot discount King Louis. Only one win on the PGA Tour is criminal for a player of Louis’s calibre, I for one would like to see him add to this tally this week.
