Lyle & Scott's proud Eagle icon was born years after the brand starts, 93 years ago to be precise. The Scottish Golden Eagle was chosen as the motif to help the brand stand out on course, partly inspired by the famous Gleneagles Hotel & Golf Resort. Read on to learn more about the origins of the Eagle and the new autumn/winter 2020 collection

Born in the '60s
Building on their reputation as quality knitwear manufacturers, Lyle's first range of exclusive golf wear was launched in the 1960s. Thanks to its quality construction and bold, playful designs, the range was quickly adopted by a number of the world's best golfers including Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus.

Revisited in the '80s
The Eagle was given a well-deserved lift in the '80s, with additional detail added to the beak and wings of the widely recognised Golden Eagle emblem. The '80s saw the Eagle take pride of place on other lines, including our main range and it began to be worn by football fans travelling to European games, musicians and fashion-conscious consumers.

Remastered in the '00s
In 2002, the Eagle logo underwent a total reconstruction in keeping with the times. The same position was used but the Eagle was given eyes, claws and the definition of the wings was updated for the modern wardrobe. The Eagle you see today is the same icon Lyle & Scott have proudly used for 16 years.
The Eagle logo you see today is considered one of the world's most iconic logos, worn by men, women and kids across the globe. Whether you're into sports, music or fashion, Lyle & Scott has played a pivotal role in these sub-cultures for many years and will continue to do so for many more.

The newest autumn/winter 2020 collection features new polo shirts, knitwear and accessories in a neutral colour palette as well as adding in some deep purple and greens to add colour to your wardrobe on and off the course.
